Is it okay to peel the damaged skin using Tretinoin + Hydroquinone Solution?
I really have severe damaged skin caused by a ringworm, it’s healed now but the dark marks or scars appeared. is it safe to peel it using Tretinoin + Hydroquinone Solution?
The best option is probably to consult a dermatologist about the pigmentation. I currently use this combination for my acne scars, but I am under the care of the doctor and I visit every 6 weeks. Good luck.
About The Procedure:
This treatment generally takes about ten minutes during which the doctor applies the peeling solution to your face. No protective covering is applied over the treated area and you can go to work after getting treated. Your doctor may apply this peel at weekly or other suitable intervals. The normal strength of AHA such as glycolic acid for mild peeling is normally 12%. You may be given a maintenance cream of an AHA in lower concentration to be used every day at home.
In the beginning of the treatment, AHA peels may cause some redness, irritation or stinging. As the skin adjusts to the peel, these effects disappear. With your skin maintenance program at home, you will get a different fresh looking skin after some days. The results may not be immediately visible. Sun protection is necessary with this treatment. Does Chemical Peeling Slow Aging?
Chemical peeling is a procedure to remove sun damaged, pigmented and wrinkled skin by peeling it with chemicals. The results depend on the kind of peeling performed. As the old skin peels off, new skin, which is much fresher looking, appears. But chemical peeling does not slow the aging process or prevent it. What it does is to remove old damaged skin with a fresh looking new skin. After that, it is up to you to take better care of your skin to keep it younger for more time by protecting it from sun. The process itself does not affect the internal aging of the skin. If you expose your new skin to sun again, it will get damaged as it got damaged before.
Can chemical peeling damage?
In rare cases, chemical peeling procedure can damage with infection and scarring. You must talk to your doctor about this. No procedure that changes body in any way is free from risk.
AHA formulations are used to give light peel, TCA is used to give a medium depth peel and phenol is used to give a deep peel to the skin. You can visualize the process like this – the deeper your skin problem, the deeper peel may be used. So for surface aberrations, a mild peel is done and for deeper scars, a deep peel is performed. Your doctor will decide about that after looking at your skin and consulting with you about what results you desire, the time you want to give and the care and discomfort you are ready to undergo. Deep peels give more discomfort but produces better results. As all peeling treatments use chemicals and removal of old skin, sometimes infections and scarring may occur. You must talk to your doctor about the probability of such occurrences before getting the procedure done.
