Crunchy hair from too much protein?
Okay so I think I have a little problem from using protein conditioning treatments on my hair.
Sections of my hair are like crunchy…and when wet it is hard to comb through…
I want to fix this. I have stopped all protein treatments and have started using deep conditioning/hydrating masque treatments, but I am not seeing the results I hoped for.
Does anyone have any advice? Anyone know what I am talking about?
Yes, my suspicion in this is you have styled the hair or blown it dry possibly and that is what causes damage, the heat from such. Lay off the styling with curling iron or hot rollers and let hair dry naturally. Use a wide tooth comb or a coated tip brush to go through the hair when it is wet or damp to avoid further breakage or any more damage as well. Never pull hair.
If you have been using a WHEAT protein that actually helps to soften the hair. There are products that are for severely damaged hair, the Loreal Vive Pro has a conditioner for this that does work well. Also, there is a new one called Aveeno Nourish + Hair Care for repairing damage. I got a sample from walmart. Go to their site and see if this can be sent. They send it fast. Just give them the mailing address to get it at.
I got a coupon with this for a dollar off and it DOES do as it said, to repair the damage proven in as little as 3 uses. Just select the repair type of shampoo when requesting this. It has light green writing on the bottle or sample packet they send. I’d search on google for free items online if there is a problem trying to locate it when at walmart site.
I’d also try the aussie deep conditioning as that you leave on 3 minutes as you can start the repair process this way while waiting for the sample to be sent. I would try a hot oil treatment if it’s really bad.
Those you can get for a few dollars at the local drug store like walgreens. I would be patient and stay away from hot styling items and be sure to rinse your hair thoroughly in the meantime as well every time you wash and condition it now.
