Peptide Intensive
Our skin goes through quite a lot in our life times. It’s always exposed to the elements, we stretch it, some of us burn it through excessive sun exposure and some of us just don’t take care of it until well into middle age.
By then, it may look tough but in fact it is probably more delicate. So any aging skin moisturizers need to be delicate and soothing.
What you should stay away from then is just about all the main stream moisturizers! That’s because they are anything but delicate and soothing. Most of them contain alcohol based ingredients such as mineral oil.
This doesn’t add any moisture to your skin at all but only draws existing moisture up from deeper levels so your epidermis feels pliable and smooth. But the overall result is to dry your skin out.
One of the most efficient and natural aging skin moisturizers is avocado oil. It is very compatible to the natural sebum (oil) your skin produces and has the added benefit of strengthening the soluble collagen in the dermis layer of your skin. (Collagen is an essential protein in skin giving it its strength.)
Macadamia oil is another of the aging skin moisturizers. It is very gentle but also has the ability to penetrate deeply, hydrating at all levels. And like avocado oil, it is very compatible with skin and is very soothing.
Active manuka honey is another amazing skin care ingredient that should be present in all quality aging skin moisturizers. It is soothing, it hydrates and it provides an enormous amount of antioxidants to your skin. All natural honey is good for your skin but active manuka honey is clinically proven to be the most effective for skin care.
Recently, another ingredient has appeared that is specific to aging skin moisturizers and that is something called rigin. This natural substance is a peptide and has been proven to help reduce the secretion of cytokines, which is one of the processes in skin that cause visible aging.
It is especially effective around facial and neck skin and really supports deep hydration. In one clinical study, participants experienced 24% increase in overall skin hydration in just two weeks.
If you look around, you should be able to find a hydrating mask that contains some of these ingredients. Older skin is far more delicate and has greater needs than younger skin so make sure the hydrating mask you choose has only natural and gentle ingredients like these.
The good news is that using these ingredients will give you almost immediate relief from dry and/or inflamed skin. I’ve found one particular hydrating mask that contains these ingredients and several more that make it stand out from all the other aging skin moisturizers I’ve ever looked at.
